Ayo Edebiri recently directed an episode on season three of “The Bear,” where she made it a point to bring positive energy to the set. She emphasized the importance of being in a good mood and treating people decently to ensure a smooth workday flow. Edebiri, who has won awards for her role as chef Sydney Adamu on the show, worked alongside Jeremy Allen White.

In an interview with Variety, White mentioned that the focus of the second season was on transforming the restaurant into an upscale eatery, leading to less cooking on set. However, he hinted that the third season would return to the functioning kitchen atmosphere of the first season. Edebiri, a multifaceted talent in comedy, writing, producing, acting, and now directing, found inspiration from the show’s creator Christopher Storer.

Edebiri shared her belief that positive energy starts at the top and trickles down, emphasizing the importance of creating a supportive and uplifting work environment for everyone involved, not just the actors. The value of feeling appreciated and valued at work was highlighted in a 2021 study by McKinsey, showing that it’s one of the top reasons people leave their jobs.

Jasmine Hill, the CEO of Radiant Slate Consulting, stressed the need for CEOs to invest in developing company culture and employees. She explained that fostering a positive workplace environment not only benefits employee well-being but can also improve productivity and retention rates. Moreover, research published in the Journal of Applied Psychology suggests that behaving well at work can even lead to better sleep quality, demonstrating the far-reaching impact of positive energy in the workplace.
