Bank of Ireland is seeking to fill 100 technology roles to focus on developing new customer features on digital channels, enhancing protection against fraud, and advancing data analytics. The roles will cover areas such as data, delivery management, engineering, resilience, and cyber, with a particular emphasis on cloud technology, open banking, APIs, AI, and other emerging technologies.

In 2023, Bank of Ireland experienced an 18% year-on-year increase in active digital users and introduced over 60 enhancements to its mobile app, including biometric features and additional fraud monitoring. The digitization efforts also extended to Wealth and Insurance services, leading to the launch of a new customer portal and increased adoption of a digital advice platform.

Despite these advancements, the bank has faced technical challenges in recent years, including a significant technology outage that caused disruptions at ATMs. This incident prompted criticism from the country’s finance minister and highlighted the need for continued investment in technology infrastructure. Subsequently, Bank of Ireland announced plans to upgrade its ATM fleet and invest €15 million in new fraud prevention technology.

Ciarán Coyle, group chief operating officer at Bank of Ireland, emphasized the importance of investing in talent, technology, and infrastructure to provide customers with superior banking services. The bank is actively recruiting specialists who can contribute to innovative digital projects aimed at enhancing the overall banking experience.
