Banker Steps Down Following Video Surfacing of Punching Incident at Pride Event

Banker Jonathan Kaye has left Moelis after a video emerged showing him involved in an altercation with a woman at a Pride event. The incident, which took place earlier this month in Brooklyn, led to Kaye’s departure from the company. He was responsible for overseeing the investment bank’s global business services franchise. As of Monday, his profile is no longer featured on the Moelis website. Bloomberg reported on Kaye’s resignation on Monday, and he did not respond to a request for comment from Business Insider.

The video of the altercation circulated on social media, causing Kaye to be placed on leave as Moelis conducted an investigation. In the video, Kaye can be seen allegedly punching a woman, who then falls to the ground. It was reported that Kaye had liquid poured on him by multiple individuals after engaging in a conversation with someone holding a Palestinian flag at the event. The incident resulted in the woman losing consciousness, suffering a broken nose, lacerations, and a black eye.

The altercation may have stemmed from remarks made by Kaye about the Israel-Gaza war, according to a report. The video captured the moments leading up to the physical confrontation, where the woman identified as the victim stated that she was punched by Kaye, resulting in a broken nose and injury to her arm. The incident escalated when Kaye allegedly told a person with a Palestinian flag that they were on the “wrong side.”

A police report was filed detailing the injuries sustained by the woman who was punched by Kaye. The aftermath of the altercation led to Kaye leaving Moelis. The incident has brought attention to issues surrounding the Israel-Gaza conflict and sparked a debate on appropriate conduct in public settings.
