Baptist Health and the nation’s largest owner and operator of inpatient rehabilitation hospitals have opened a new 40-bed facility in Louisville. Encompass Health, based in Birmingham, Alabama, and Baptist Health, which operates hospitals in Kentucky and Indiana, launched the new inpatient rehabilitation hospital at 11800 Bluegrass Parkway.

This facility in Louisville offers recovery services to patients who have experienced strokes, brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, amputations, and other conditions. Patients at this hospital receive a minimum of three hours of therapy for five days each week, physician visits, and 24-hour nursing care.

Baptist Health CEO Gerard Colman expressed excitement about this new hospital and described it as a way to meet strategic goals by combining next-generation healthcare with improved access to care for the community. The hospital features private patient rooms, a therapy gym with advanced rehabilitation technologies, a dining room, and an in-house pharmacy. An interdisciplinary team of nurses, therapists, and physicians provide physical, occupational, and speech therapies.

Encompass Health’s Central region president, Troy Dedecker, commented on the hospital’s design that prioritizes patient needs as they recover strength, function, hope, and independence. The one-story building design allows for greater accessibility for patients being transferred to different treatment areas and easier access for families and visitors.

Encompass Health operates 163 hospitals in 37 states and Puerto Rico, making it a significant player in the field of inpatient rehabilitation hospitals in the United States.
