Baptist Health System has joined forces with the San Antonio Food Bank for the 10th annual Healthy Over Hungry Cereal Drive. The public is encouraged to donate healthy cereal boxes at any of the system’s five hospitals until Friday, June 14. The drive aims to help combat food insecurity, with a focus on children who may struggle with access to meals during the summer break when school lunch programs are not available.

According to Baptist Health System, 35% of those served by the food bank are children, highlighting the significant need within the community. Group CEO Matt Stone emphasized the importance of starting the day with a nutritious breakfast and expressed gratitude for the community’s support.

Last year, the hospital system collected nearly 4,000 pounds of cereal, a significant increase from the previous year. This year, Baptist Health System hopes to exceed that amount and make an even greater impact in supporting those facing food insecurity.

Donations can be made at designated big red food bins located at Baptist Medical Center (Downtown), Mission Trail Baptist Hospital (Southside), Northeast Baptist Hospital (Off Loop 410 & Starcrest), North Central Baptist Hospital (Stone Oak), and St. Luke’s Baptist Hospital (Medical Center). These efforts align with other community initiatives, such as free meal programs offered by local school districts, to ensure that children have access to food during the summer months.
