Baptist Health recently opened its new Central Pharmacy Services Center in Oldham County, with the goal of reducing medication prices and improving access to specialty medications. The $40 million facility, located at 1051 New Moody Lane, is anticipated to create 200 new jobs. One of its key features is a warehouse equipped with robotic technology that can fill 14,000 prescriptions in a 10-hour shift. This facility spans 102,000 square feet and will also provide education and certification opportunities for pharmacy technician students at the Arvin Education Center.

Oldham County Schools Superintendent Jason Radford is optimistic about the benefits that this facility will offer to students in the biomedical sciences pathway. He sees it as a potential stepping stone for students interested in pharmaceutical sciences. Center fulfillment manager Amanda Shelly emphasized that patients will save money through simplified prescription processes, such as receiving medications by mail. The Center will also expedite medication delivery for cancer and rheumatology patients, reducing the time they have to wait for treatment.

Shelly pointed out that the Central Pharmacy Services Center differs from traditional community pharmacies as it minimizes human interaction in the medication process. This approach streamlines operations and ensures accurate and efficient prescription fulfillment. Patients across the state can benefit from the services offered by the Center, with the option to transfer existing prescriptions at any time. For more information, interested individuals can contact the call center at 502-565-0000 to explore the services available to them at the new facility.
