June is Men’s Health Month, a time dedicated to raising awareness about the importance of men’s health. In an effort to encourage more men to see medical professionals, Gee’s Clippers and its partners are hosting a men’s health clinic. Four years ago, Gee Smith, the owner of Gee’s Clippers, started the clinic in collaboration with Froedtert and the Medical College of Wisconsin, as well as Network Health.
Smith recognized that many men feel more comfortable opening up to their barber than to a doctor. The clinic provides a trusted environment for men to discuss their health concerns. The event called “Reclaiming Wellness: Dismantling Health Stigmas for Men of Color” will take place at Gee’s Clippers today from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Interested individuals can register in advance or simply show up at the clinic.
