The Bay Academy made history last month by becoming the first public school to attend the Science Olympiad Nationals. Their dedication to hard work paid off when they placed 16th out of 60 teams. Students at the school expressed their pride in achieving a top 20 finish and leaving a legacy for future students to strive for.
As many students prepare to move on to high school, they reflected on their experience and had words of encouragement for those who will follow in their footsteps. Bennett Tang emphasized the importance of hard work and studying, stating that with determination, anything is possible. Evan Vysotsky highlighted the significance of the memories made during their time on the Science Olympiad team, noting that the journey is just as important as the outcome.
This year, there was a significant increase in the number of students trying out for the team, with 60 students competing for a spot. The growing interest in science and competition at The Bay Academy indicates a bright future for the school’s Science Olympiad program, with students eager to continue building on their success and inspiring others to reach for their goals.
