Aston Villa Women’s Super League team has secured the signing of Jill Baijings on loan from Bayern Munich. The 23-year-old midfielder, who was part of the Netherlands squad at the 2023 Women’s World Cup, is Villa’s first addition of the summer transfer window. Baijings played a key role in helping Bayern Munich retain the Frauen-Bundesliga title last season, making 14 appearances for the German side.
Lee Billiard, Villa’s head of women’s football, expressed excitement about welcoming Baijings to the team, highlighting her young age and valuable experience. He mentioned that they have been tracking Baijings for a while and believe that she possesses key attributes that will enhance the team’s performances on the field.
Baijings, who has eight international appearances for the Netherlands, has previously played for clubs such as Heerenveen, SGS Essen, and Bayer Leverkusen before joining Bayern Munich on a three-year contract last summer. Her addition to the Villa squad is expected to bring depth and quality to the team as they prepare for the upcoming season in the Women’s Super League.
