Bayern Munich recently announced that Josip Stanišić has signed a new five-year contract with the club. The defender, who spent the previous season on loan at Bayer Leverkusen, has now decided to remain in Bavaria despite his successful loan spell. Stanišić joined the Bayern academy in 2017 and has since made 41 appearances for the first team, scoring one goal.
Although he was born in Germany, Stanišić represents Croatia at the international level and was part of the squad that was eliminated from EURO 2024 at the group stage by Italy. Stanišić’s decision to remain with Bayern means he will be part of Vincent Kompany’s squad for the upcoming season, under Kompany’s first season in charge at the Allianz Arena.
