Beetlejuice Returns for Opening Night of 2024 Venice Film Festival

The 81st Venice International Film Festival will open this year with the highly-anticipated world premiere of Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, the sequel to Tim Burton’s 1988 comedy-horror hit. The film will debut in Venice on August 28, screening out of competition. Beetlejuice alums Michael Keaton, Winona Ryder, and Catherine O’Hara will reunite for the sequel, with new additions to the cast including Justin Theroux, Monica Bellucci, Jenna Ortega, and Willem Dafoe. Warner Bros. will release the film in North America on September 6, followed by an international release on September 4.

Venice artistic director Alberto Barbera expressed his enthusiasm for hosting the world premiere of Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, highlighting Tim Burton’s iconic character and visionary talent. Burton himself is thrilled to have the film debut at the Venice Film Festival. Warner Bros. has a history of success in Venice, with premieres of films like Joker and Dune leading to both box office success and awards recognition.

The 81st Venice Film Festival will take place from August 28 to September 7.
