President Joe Biden reassured his supporters in the Hamptons that he remains firm in his re-election campaign despite concerns about his performance in the recent debate. Speaking to about 150 people at the home of hedge fund manager Barry Rosestein, Biden acknowledged the concerns raised after the debate, but emphasized that he would not run if he didn’t believe he could win.

Following a disastrous debate performance against Donald Trump, Biden faced calls from some donors, lawmakers, and Democratic strategists to consider leaving the campaign. However, Biden stated that he has no intention of dropping out and is committed to staying in the race.

Maintaining fundraising support is crucial for Biden to reassure his supporters and the party that he is capable of serving another term in the White House. Despite the debate fallout, events to support Biden continued, including a reception hosted by New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy that raised $3.7 million and a gala in Manhattan where singer Elton John introduced Biden to attendees.

Despite some signs of dissent from supporters urging Biden to step aside, many attendees at fundraising events expressed their preference for continuing to support Biden over Trump. Biden’s campaign reported raising $27 million between the day of the debate and Friday night, indicating ongoing support for his candidacy.
