Big Bay Boom, a popular fireworks show in San Diego, is expected to light up the night sky and boost the local economy. AAA is predicting a record travel season for the Fourth of July holiday, and San Diego is a top destination for travelers.

According to San Diego Tourism Authority Director of Research Nathan Kelley, Fourth of July is one of the biggest holidays of the year. The economic impact from this year’s Big Bay Boom is expected to be significant. Visitors like 10-year-old Austin Urias, who is visiting from Arizona for the second year in a row, are excited to witness the fireworks show.

Urias shared his excitement about watching the fireworks display during Big Bay Boom. The event draws large crowds and has a positive impact on the local economy. Data on hotel occupancy rates, room sales, and revenue generated during the event are used to measure its economic success.

A study conducted by San Diego State University in 2022 estimated that up to 300,000 people watched Big Bay Boom in person, resulting in an economic impact of up to $90 million. This event has helped boost hotel occupancy rates in San Diego, making it a popular destination for Fourth of July travelers.

In the past, San Diego has had the highest hotel occupancy rate in the country during the Fourth of July holiday. Kelley believes that this trend will continue this year. Don’t forget to tune in to FOX 5 on Thursday night to watch the Big Bay Boom fireworks show and celebrate Independence Day in San Diego.
