Consolidated Pipe and Supply Company Inc. is moving its headquarters to Tom Martin Drive in Birmingham, just off of Lakeshore Parkway. Currently located on the Birmingham Southern College campus, the company is a leading supplier for construction and pipe projects across the country, with a long-standing presence in Birmingham. County leaders have noted the company’s importance in local economic development and are supportive of its growth.

The relocation project will entail the creation of a new headquarters facility and a small distribution center, representing a significant capital investment of over $28 million. It is projected that the move will bring in approximately $1.1 million in tax revenue over a 20-year period, with a substantial portion earmarked for education. With plans to accommodate 100 existing employees and make room for 40 more, the project is expected to add new jobs that offer competitive wages to the area.

While the distribution facility may increase truck traffic on Lakeshore Parkway, the company has worked with the nearby homeowners association to mitigate potential impacts. Measures such as implementing a one-way in, one-way out traffic design, limiting truck traffic, and installing a wooded screening to shield local residents from the facility have been put in place. These efforts aim to minimize disruptions and maintain the quality of life for the community.

According to Jeff Traywick, the Jefferson County economic development advisor, grading for the new facility is set to begin in the coming months, with an anticipated opening slated for late 2025 or early 2026. Overall, the consolidation of Consolidated Pipe and Supply Company Inc.’s headquarters signifies a positive step towards growth and long-term sustainability for the company and the community at large.
