binder, a leading supplier of industrial circular connectors, has announced that various M12 connectors are now available in versions designed for surface mount technology (SMT), allowing for streamlined and automated processes. These connectors are suitable for use in fully automated processes, such as in the dense assembly of PCBs, as well as in automation technology devices, sensors, actuators, and robotics.

The SMT M12 connectors come in variations with 4, 6, and 8 contacts, as well as different codings (A-, B-, D-, X-coded) and offer a protection class of IP67. They are compact and easy to process automatically, making them ideal for applications in factory automation, process instrumentation, robotics, and sensors and actuators.

Surface mount technology (SMT) has become popular in electronic assembly due to its ability to miniaturize components with high density. In SMT, contact pins are placed directly on the surface of the PCB and connected with solder paste instead of being inserted through the PCB. This allows for significant space saving and the ability to mount connectors with small distances in one plane, as required in automation technology.

binder’s SMT M12 connectors come in various configurations, including shielded and unshielded versions and can be purchased in different packaging options for automated processing. All M12 products from binder offer industry-standard protection against dust and water (IP67) and are designed to be compatible with current market standards for PCB drilling patterns.
