Samsung is continuously developing its digital assistant Bixby to offer new functions powered by generative artificial intelligence (AI) that will redefine its role within the company’s ecosystem. Introduced in 2017 with the Galaxy S8, Bixby aims to help users make the most of their smartphones and currently spans the entire Samsung intelligence ecosystem.

Recently, the presentation of the Galaxy S24 highlighted new functions powered by generative AI, such as the Rodea search tool, Photo Assistant, Translation in real time, and Notes Assistant. These features have not yet been extended to Bixby, showcasing Samsung’s ongoing plans for the assistant.

Executive Vice President of the device business, Won-joon Choi, confirmed in an interview with CNBC that Samsung envisions equipping Bixby with generative AI to enhance its capabilities and enable more natural conversations. This development aligns with the company’s goal of creating an interface that seamlessly integrates with Samsung products in its ecosystem.

Overall, Samsung’s commitment to enhancing Bixby with generative AI showcases its dedication to evolving the digital assistant to better serve users and redefine its role within the company’s offerings.
