The Kansas City Chiefs received positive news on Friday regarding BJ Thompson. His agent, Chris Turnage, confirmed to NFL Media that the defensive lineman is awake and responsive. This update is a relief after Thompson had a medical emergency at the team facility one day prior. Reportedly, Thompson suffered a seizure that led to cardiac arrest during a special teams meeting on Thursday morning. Prompt response from the Chiefs’ trainers and medical staff enabled Thompson to receive the necessary treatment quickly.

Initially, Thompson was unconscious following the incident, as shared by Turnage on Thursday night. The fact that he is now awake marks a significant improvement in his condition. Thompson joined the Chiefs in his second year, drafted in the fifth round of the 2023 NFL Draft. He appeared in one game during his rookie season.

The Chiefs had planned their final OTA for Thursday but postponed all activities until Friday due to the situation. Additionally, a mandatory minicamp is scheduled for June 11-13, after which the team will have a break before training camp starts in late July.
