Bloomberg recruits Yian as an economy and government reporter

Bloomberg News has recently hired Lee Yian as an economy and government reporter in Taiwan, with his start date scheduled for next week. Currently working as an investigative reporter for The Reporter Media Foundation in Taipei City, Yian has previously contributed to Initium Media. Beginning his career as an investigative journalist in 2018, he has focused on covering environmental and agricultural topics and their implications on domestic or international politics. His report on the trade wars between Beijing and Taipei regarding agricultural products was recognized as a finalist for the SOPA editorial award of Excellence in Business Reporting. Yian holds a bachelor’s degree from National Taiwan University.

Chris Roush, the former dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut, has an extensive background in business journalism. Prior to his role as dean, he served as the Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. Roush has also worked as a business journalist for prominent publications such as Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune, and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. An accomplished author, he has written the leading business reporting textbook “Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication,” as well as “Thinking Things Over,” a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
