Bob’s Stores has made the decision to close all of its locations and liquidate all remaining inventory, as announced by representatives of the company. As a result, they have begun “going out of business” sales at their stores, offering discounts ranging from 30 to 70%.
Despite efforts to make changes to the company’s structure and operations, Bob’s Stores was unable to secure the necessary finances to continue operations. This has led to the unfortunate decision to close all locations. This decision will result in laying off 145 employees in Meriden, Connecticut.
Several store locations in Connecticut will be affected by these closures, including Ansonia, Hamden, Manchester, Middletown, Milford, Newington, Simsbury, Southington, Waterbury, and Waterford. Additionally, stores in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, and Rhode Island will also be closing.
Gift cards and merchandise credits will be honored before the stores close, as confirmed by company officials. These closures are part of the Chapter 11 restructuring petition filed in June of 2024.
President of Bob’s Stores, Dave Barton expressed gratitude towards vendors, suppliers, customers, and employees for their support over the years. Barton emphasized the regret about liquidating Bob’s Stores, as it has been a staple in local communities for nearly 70 years. Despite the closure, he acknowledged the presence of Bob’s Stores in customers’ major life moments.
