Bob’s Stores, a discount clothing and shoe retailer, is closing all its locations and liquidating all inventory as part of a Chapter 11 restructuring petition filed on June 18, according to a press release from Hilco Merchant Resources. The going-out-of-business sales started on Friday with discounts of 30-70% off on workwear, footwear, team wear, everyday clothing, store fixtures, furniture, and equipment.

Gift cards and merchandise credits will be honored until the stores close on July 14. Despite efforts to make changes to the company’s structure and operations, Bob’s Stores was unable to secure the necessary finances to continue operations. Hilco Merchant Resources and Gordon Brothers will manage the liquidation event for all 21 Bob’s Stores locations throughout Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, and Rhode Island.

In a statement, Dave Barton, the president of Bob’s Stores, expressed regret over the financial situation that led to the closure. Bob’s Stores has been a community staple for nearly 70 years, and the company is thankful for the support of vendors, suppliers, customers, and employees over the years. Headquartered in Meriden, Connecticut, Bob’s Stores is known for its affordable prices and comprehensive merchandise offerings. It is a subsidiary of GoDigital Media Group, which also owns businesses like Cinq Music, Eastern Mountain Sports, and YogaWorks.

The closure of Bob’s Stores will mark the end of an era for many customers who have relied on the retailer for their clothing and footwear needs. Despite the discounts available during the going-out-of-business sale, the closure of Bob’s Stores will leave a void in the communities where the stores were located. Customers and employees alike will have to find alternative options for their shopping and employment needs, as Bob’s Stores prepares to shut its doors for the final time on July 14.
