Bombers from the World War II era set to soar over Pittsburgh this week

The Flying Legends of Victory Tour from the Arizona Commemorative Air Force Museum landed in Pittsburgh on Monday morning as part of its 15-stop city tour. This tour aims to provide people locally and across the country with an experience of what life was like on board two World War II bombers during the 1940s. The two planes featured in the tour, the B-17 ‘Sentimental Journey’ and the B-25 ‘Maid in the Shade,’ both saw action during the war. The B-17 flew against the Japanese in the Pacific, while the B-25 flew missions over the Mediterranean against Hitler and Mussolini.

Both of these planes have been flying for over 80 years and have the signatures of individuals connected to them, including the pilots who flew them and the riveters who built them. According to Marty Post, a crew member for the tour, these planes bring people of all ages together and connect them with the past. The purpose of the tour is to honor the service of past generations as well as those who are currently serving in the military.

The planes will be available for tours from Tuesday to Sunday, with tickets starting at $15 per person. Flights on the planes will take place from Friday to Sunday, starting at $375 for the B-25 and $475 for the B-17. Due to limited space on the planes, some flights have already sold out.
