Booz Allen Hamilton has announced the appointment of William Vass as its new chief technology officer. Vass, who previously served as the vice president of engineering at Amazon Web Services, will be joining the company next week. His extensive experience includes leadership roles at various start-ups and Fortune 100 companies.
Vass is taking over the role from Susan Penfield, who will be retiring in July after 30 years at Booz Allen. In his new position, Vass will be focusing on the company’s artificial intelligence, cyber, software, and data-centric capabilities as part of Booz Allen’s Velocity, Leadership, and Technology strategy, known as VoLT.
With over 40 years of experience, Vass has worked on innovations such as large-scale cloud, digital twins, 3D-processing extended reality, geospatial, and high-performance computing. During his time at AWS, he led software and hardware development for emerging technology services.
Before entering the private sector, Vass also served in the government and was part of the senior executive service. His diverse background and expertise make him a valuable addition to Booz Allen’s leadership team.
