Several important restaurant and food-related news stories have emerged between June 24 and June 30. Cucina LaRosa’s in Wilmington, an Italian restaurant with a long history in the northern suburbs of Boston, has closed its doors after almost 50 years in business. Meanwhile, ButterBird has recently opened at Arsenal Yards in Watertown, with a renowned local chef and restaurateur launching this fast-casual dining spot just outside of Boston.

Unfortunately, fire has caused significant damage to two Boston restaurants in recent days. The Squealing Pig in Boston’s Mission Hill neighborhood, a popular spot for college students and medical workers, has been severely impacted by a fire. Additionally, the historic Jacob Wirth Building in Boston’s Theater District, home to a landmark restaurant that was in the process of reopening, has suffered major damage due to a four-alarm fire.

Adding to the recent restaurant closures in the Boston area, Porters Bar and Grill in the North Station area has also shut down. This beloved drinking spot, particularly popular with sports fans, has closed its doors for good.
