Christian McCaffrey arrived at the 49ers’ mandatory minicamp and signed a new contract with the team on Tuesday. However, wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk’s status remains unchanged. According to Matt Maiocco of NBCSportsBayArea.com, Aiyuk has not reported to the team’s facility for their only mandatory work of the offseason and has been absent throughout the voluntary phases of work.

Aiyuk could face over $100,000 in fines for missing the three-day minicamp, but he may see it as a price worth paying if it helps him secure a long-term extension with the team. There has been speculation about a potential trade involving Aiyuk during the offseason, but General Manager John Lynch has indicated that it is no longer being considered after the draft.

In addition to McCaffrey’s contract, the 49ers recently signed Jauan Jennings to an extension. If nothing materializes with Aiyuk in the coming weeks, the trade situation may change. It remains to be seen how the situation will unfold as the offseason progresses.
