Breaking Free from the Tyranny of College Sports on Independence Day

Today, we celebrate Independence Day, Bulldog fans! It’s a day where we honor life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. What makes each of us happy may vary greatly, but as Americans, we all share the common understanding that we are free to chase happiness in our own ways, with a few exceptions. Despite our differences, there are certain universal truths that we can all agree on.

As we rejoice on this special day, let’s take a moment to reflect on the things we are grateful to be free from. For instance, the departure of Tom Crean and the hopelessness of Billy Napier in building a winning football program at the SEC level bring a sense of relief. With the uncertainties surrounding Carson Beck dispelled and new bathroom facilities at Sanford Stadium, we can appreciate the progress made.

The dwindling chances of Tennessee winning a football national championship, the impending retirement of Nick Saban, and the fading relevance of 1980 jokes are also sources of contentment. As we celebrate our freedom, let’s ring in the joy and cheer for our beloved ‘Dawgs!
