The Public Health Advisory for Gauch Park Pond (on Lake Quinsigamond) has been lifted as of 06-27-24. Seasonal water quality sampling has shown that the levels are within acceptable and safe limits.
It was previously reported on 06-18-24 that high levels of E. Coli were detected at Gauch Park Pond during routine water quality monitoring. The pond is located at the corner of North Quinsigamond Avenue and Main Street in Shrewsbury. The Worcester Division of Public Health and the Town of Shrewsbury’s Board of Health issued a Public Health Advisory until further tests revealed safe water quality levels.
Town officials are advising individuals and their pets to avoid contact with the water at Gauch Park Pond, including fishing, until further notice. It is recommended to follow the guidelines and updates provided by the Public Health Department to ensure safety and well-being.
