Lost Lake Woods Association of Lincoln recently hosted its annual Rally for a Cure golf outing. The event was organized by Paulette Kallstrom, Bev Calkins, and Helen Zimmerman to benefit the Breast Health Program at MyMichigan Medical Center Alpena. The outing included a golf scramble, raffles, 50/50 drawings, and an auction with items donated by local businesses. Kallstrom, a breast cancer survivor, expressed her understanding of the challenges faced by those diagnosed with breast cancer and emphasized that the tournament aims to support those currently battling the disease. Ann Ashford of Harrisville also hosted a Rally for the Cure at Loggers Trace Golf Course, with funds raised going towards the same cause.

The two events, including registrations and hole sponsorships, raised a total of $9,181. These donations will be used to provide support to local breast health patients in need, including free mammograms, prescription assistance, ultrasounds, biopsy procedures, and financial assistance for lodging and travel. Ann Diamond, development director for MyMichigan Health Foundation, expressed gratitude for the generosity of the community and highlighted the impact the donations will have on women affected by breast cancer.

Steve Hand, manager of imaging services at MyMichigan Medical Center Alpena, encouraged all women to prioritize annual mammograms. He stressed the importance of events like Rally for a Cure in raising awareness about breast cancer and addressing barriers to diagnosis. Hand expressed appreciation for the donations and the increased awareness brought about by these events.
