Brentford is on the verge of securing a deal to sign Leeds United’s talented teenage midfielder, Archie Gray. The two clubs have agreed on a fee that could potentially rise to £40m with add-ons included. Gray, who is only 18 years old, is expected to undergo a medical examination before his move to the west London club is finalized. If the deal goes through, Gray will become Brentford’s most expensive signing to date.

Negotiations between the two clubs are still in progress, but Leeds has given Brentford permission to speak directly with Gray to discuss the transfer. The aim is to complete the move before the Financial Fair Play deadline set by the English Football League on June 30th. Following Leeds’ heart-breaking loss in the Championship play-off final to Southampton, they are looking to offload players during the transfer window.

Brentford’s potential acquisition of Gray is seen as a major achievement, as other top clubs like Liverpool, Chelsea, and Tottenham have also shown interest in the talented midfielder. Gray played a key role for Leeds last season, featuring in 52 matches across all competitions, primarily operating in midfield but occasionally filling in at right-back.

The deal would provide a boost to Brentford as they gear up for pre-season squad preparations under the guidance of manager Thomas Frank. The club successfully avoided relegation in May and securing Gray’s services would add strength to their squad ahead of the new season.
