The New Ulm Brewers faced a 4-0 loss against the Nisswa Lightning in the third round of the Class C Amateur Baseball State Tournament. Pitcher Mitch Bockenstedt had a tough outing, striking out nine batters but allowing six hits and three earned runs in eight innings. On offense, Hunter Randweiler had a strong performance, going 2 for 4, while Cole Randweiler hit a double.

Reflecting on the season, Brewers manager Al Flor expressed a mix of pride and disappointment. He felt that the season was productive, but was disappointed to have lost in the same spot as last year. Despite this, he believed it was a really good year for the team.

The game started with Nisswa scoring a run in the first inning due to an error and a single. New Ulm had an opportunity to respond in the second inning when they loaded the bases, but they were unable to score. Both teams had quick innings in the third and fourth, but Nisswa managed to add another run in the fifth after Bockenstedt hit a batsman with the bases loaded. New Ulm’s Colten Schaefer made a double play to limit the damage.

In the sixth inning, the Brewers had a runner on third base but were unable to bring him home. In the seventh, Nisswa’s Kody Ruedisili hit a home run, extending their lead to 4-0. New Ulm had one last chance in the ninth inning as they loaded the bases, but they were unable to capitalize as Schaefer popped up for the final out.

Despite the loss, the New Ulm Brewers had a successful season and will look to build upon their accomplishments in the future.
