During a press conference on Thursday, New York Giants head coach Brian Daboll praised second-year wide receiver Jalin Hyatt for the marked improvement he has shown this offseason. Daboll noted that Hyatt has made tremendous progress in understanding his responsibilities out of the huddle and before the snap.
Daboll expressed his satisfaction with Hyatt’s development during the team’s OTAs, highlighting the young receiver’s improvement since his disappointing rookie season. The Giants had high expectations for Hyatt when they traded up to select him in the third round of the NFL draft last year. Known for his speed, Hyatt impressed during camp last summer, reaching a top speed of 24 MPH, setting a record among NFL players.
Despite facing challenges such as quarterback issues and inconsistency, Hyatt managed to record 373 yards on 23 receptions in seven starts last season. He did not score any touchdowns but played a significant number of offensive snaps. The Giants are looking to capitalize on Hyatt’s speed this coming season, pairing him with rookie Malik Nabers and slot receiver Wan’Dale Robinson to create matchup challenges for opposing defenses.
In addition to lining up on the outside, Hyatt is also expected to see time in the slot in certain formations, providing the Giants with versatility and options in their offensive scheme.
