Broncos Offense May Showcase Bo Nix’s Mobility

Bo Nix, a dual-threat quarterback at Oregon, showcased his ability to make plays with his legs by accumulating 744 rushing yards and 20 touchdowns on the ground in addition to 8,101 passing yards and 74 passing touchdowns during his time with the Ducks. In high school, Nix also rushed for 2,112 yards and 34 touchdowns. Standing at 6-2 and weighing 217 pounds, it is clear that Nix knows how to utilize his mobility on the field.

This season, the Denver Broncos are expected to leverage Nix’s mobility. While coach Sean Payton may be hesitant to call for too many designed runs out of concern for potential injuries, the team plans to get Nix on the move through play action and rollouts during games. Payton emphasized the value of having a quarterback who can create plays, highlighting the importance of mobility in the position.

In comparison to other quarterbacks on the roster like Zach Wilson and Jarrett Stidham, Nix’s rushing ability sets him apart. Payton’s offensive system has historically allowed quarterbacks to make plays with their legs, as seen with Russell Wilson rushing 80 times in a season. This suggests that Nix could have the opportunity to utilize his mobility in Payton’s offense if he earns the starting role for the Broncos.

Regardless of when Nix becomes the starting quarterback, his ability to make plays with his legs will be a valuable asset in Payton’s offensive scheme. The potential for Nix to use his mobility as a weapon on the field adds an additional dimension to the Broncos’ offensive strategy.
