On Thursday, news broke that the Buccaneers were set to sign former Giants wide receiver Sterling Shepard. However, before officially announcing this signing, the team added another wide receiver to their roster. The Buccaneers revealed that Cody Thompson has been signed to their 90-man roster. Thompson, who previously played for the Seahawks, had a minimal stat line last season with one catch for 10 yards in seven games. He also contributed on special teams with two tackles and played five games in 2021, recording one tackle. Unfortunately, Thompson spent the entire 2022 season on injured reserve.

With the addition of Thompson, the Buccaneers now have 12 receivers on their roster. Once Shepard is officially signed, the team will have 13 wideouts unless they release another player from the position. It seems like the Buccaneers are making moves to strengthen their receiving corps for the upcoming season.
