Green Dirt Farm celebrated the grand opening of their new location in Kansas City’s Crossroads district on Wednesday afternoon. This event marked a significant milestone for the restaurant, especially after the recent vote by Kansas City, Mo. and Jackson County residents against the stadiums sale tax. Green Dirt on Oak staff emphasized that the new spot serves as a gathering place offering locally-sourced foods, with their famous cheeses made in house.

Executive Chef Oskar Arévalo expressed his excitement about the expanded cheese-making capabilities at the new location, highlighting the farm-to-table concept that the restaurant embodies. Despite the uncertainty surrounding the outcome of the vote, Arévalo shared the fear of potential setbacks in his career if the restaurant did not move forward as planned.

The juxtaposition of opening for business as usual after the vote was nerve-wracking, but Arévalo and his team remained committed to their vision. While the initial worries and preparations are now in the past, the restaurant is poised to establish itself in its new location and continue serving the local community with their unique offerings.
