The Greater Baltimore Committee (GBC), Baltimore Development Corporation and Baltimore Mayor’s Office have announced the winners of the 49th Annual Mayor’s Business Recognition Awards. The awards honor organizations with an active presence in Baltimore that have shown significant leadership and commitment to improving the quality of life in the city. This year’s 14 winners include a diverse range of businesses and organizations.
The GBC revamped the annual awards program this year to highlight companies and organizations exemplifying at least one of five categories: economic opportunity, ambassador for the Baltimore region, local investment, supporting safe and vibrant communities, and community redevelopment. These categories cover a broad spectrum of activities that contribute to the city’s well-being and growth.
The GBC also introduced its multiyear agenda at its May annual meeting, the first since the GBC’s merger with the Economic Alliance of Greater Baltimore. This agenda includes 12 initiatives to support the organization’s combined role in shaping the region’s economic future and driving collective impact for more than 500 businesses and organizations committed to the region. The initiatives focus on the critical areas of economic opportunity, transportation and infrastructure, and collective impact.
The winners of the Mayor’s Business Recognition Awards will be celebrated at an event on December 13 at M&T Bank Exchange at the France-Merrick Performing Arts Center, 12 N. Eutaw St., in Baltimore. This event will recognize and honor the accomplishments of the winning businesses and organizations in contributing to the welfare and prosperity of the city.
