In Pittsburgh, families who have experienced the loss of unborn or newborn babies came together for a special event hosted by Allegheny Health Network and Olivia’s Angels Bereavement. The annual butterfly release is held to provide support and comfort to grieving parents as they remember and honor their lost children.
The families gathered in the Wintergarden Room at West Penn Hospital to offer support to one another during this difficult time. Commemorative poems were read, and then they moved outside to release the butterflies in memory of their little ones. Over 20 local families participated in this year’s release, creating art and receiving bags as mementos.
