A few Cal Poly departments have recently relocated to the new Mustang Business Park, located near the San Luis Obispo Regional Airport. About two weeks into the move, employees are still adjusting to and settling into their new environment. Departments including the Registrar and Administration and Finance made the move to the Business Park in mid-June.

For employees like Lori Serna and Justin Vastine from the Administration and Finance department, the transition has been relatively smooth. They have noticed more open concept working environments at the Mustang Business Park, fostering collaboration and synergy between different units. The quiet atmosphere of the new location has allowed employees to acclimate to the Business Park before fully moving in.

Despite the positive aspects of the move, employees are still navigating the logistical challenges of being off-campus. Learning how to collaborate with teams still situated on campus poses a unique set of obstacles. Additionally, adjusting to the absence of daily interactions with students has been a significant shift for many employees.

While some employees have found challenges in no longer being able to take the bus to work, there are opportunities to provide feedback and ask questions to the university to ensure a smooth transition for everyone involved. The move-in process was delayed due to furniture and occupancy configurations in the second-floor lounge space, but the university plans to continue with the staggered move-in schedule once everything is in place.
