Lychee is known for its “hot in the body” properties, which is believed to have positive effects on health without impairing liver function. This fruit is packed with water, glucose, protein, and fat, making it a beneficial addition to one’s diet. Moreover, lychees are high in fiber and low in calories, which can aid in digestion and contribute to weight loss. The antioxidants and vitamin C found in lychees are also great for the skin, helping to remove dark spots, prevent signs of aging, and boost immunity.

However, it is important to consume lychees in moderation as they can be detrimental to health if eaten in excess. With 15.2 g of sugar per 100 g serving, consuming too many lychees can lead to increased blood sugar levels and impact glucose metabolism. The sweetness and heat properties of lychees can also cause heat-related inflammation like itching, prickly heat, and pimples. To avoid such issues, it is recommended to only consume about 5 to 6 fruits at a time, especially on hot summer days.

Individuals with diabetes should be cautious when eating lychees and limit their consumption to a maximum of 6 fruits per day. Children may enjoy the sweet taste of lychees, but it is important to monitor their intake to prevent weight gain or heat rash. Pregnant women should also consume lychees in moderation and may need to restrict their consumption of this fruit. Additionally, it is advisable not to consume lychees on an empty stomach to prevent any adverse effects on health.
