Capcom recently announced that a new installment in the popular Resident Evil series is in development under the direction of seasoned director Koshi Nakanishi. The unveiling of this news took place during the Capcom Next: Summer 2024 program, generating a great deal of anticipation among fans of the series. Nakanishi, an esteemed figure in the video game industry, expressed, “We are working on a new Resident Evil. It was challenging to determine the direction to take after Resident Evil 7 biohazard. However, we have finally made a decision, and honestly, it is looking very promising. I can’t disclose any specifics yet, but I hope this sneak peek excites you.”

Nakanishi’s involvement in the Resident Evil franchise dates back to his work as a designer on Resident Evil 5 and as a director on Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D, Resident Evil: Revelations, and Resident Evil 7 biohazard. The latter installment, in particular, is praised for its return to the series’ horror roots, delivering an eerie atmosphere and engaging gameplay. With the announcement of the new title, expectations among fans of the series have been heightened. Following the success of Resident Evil 7 biohazard, which rejuvenated the series by introducing innovative elements and refocusing on horror, there is significant anticipation for this upcoming game.
