Capito Tours West Virginia Health Right Expansion Project, Nearing Completion

Today, U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) Ranking Member of the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies (Labor-HHS) visited the expansion project at West Virginia Health Right’s main facility. The project is expected to be completed later this month and was made possible in part through a Congressionally Directed Spending (CDS) award secured by Senator Capito in September 2022.

Senator Capito expressed her support for West Virginia Health Right, highlighting the vital care and services they provide to West Virginians in need. She acknowledged the rapid growth of the organization in the Kanawha River Valley over the past decade and praised the dedication of their workforce. Senator Capito emphasized the importance of the expanded facility in ensuring that West Virginia Health Right can continue to serve the community well into the future.

Senator Capito has a history of supporting West Virginia Health Right and their mission to provide care to underserved populations. She participated in the opening of the West Virginia Health Right clinic on Charleston’s West Side in June 2021. In September 2022, Senator Capito secured $4,000,000 through a Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) CDS request to support the expansion efforts of West Virginia Health Right.

The tour of the West Virginia Health Right expansion project allowed Senator Capito to see the progress of the facility firsthand. She expressed pride in playing a role in making the expansion possible and reaffirmed her commitment to supporting organizations that provide essential services to West Virginians.
