Michael Carrick has signed a new three-year contract with Middlesbrough, extending his tenure at the club until 2027. The former Manchester United and England midfielder, now 42, led the team to an eighth-place finish in the Championship last season and guided them to the Carabao Cup semi-finals despite a number of injuries.

This new deal comes after Carrick joined the club in October 2022 and had one year remaining on his previous contract. Talks were put on hold during the last season, but Boro was keen to secure the services of the head coach, who is seen as one of the brightest up-and-coming prospects in the game.

Carrick is now the longest-serving Boro boss since Aitor Karanka was sacked in 2017. Despite being in the role for just 20 months, he has already made a significant impact, leading the team to the playoffs in his first season in charge and achieving impressive results despite challenges along the way.

Reflecting on his new contract, Carrick expressed his calmness and the importance of trust and belief within the club. He remains focused on continuing the work he started when he first arrived and is determined to achieve the goals set for the team.

As he looks forward to the future, Carrick remains dedicated to the progress and success of Middlesbrough, hoping to build on the foundation he has laid in his time as head coach.
