As the Oklahoma Sooners prepare to open the season against Temple, they have a clear leader at quarterback in Jackson Arnold. Arnold, a talented player with a full offseason to prepare as the starter, is ready to lead the team as they transition into the SEC. Along with Arnold, there are several second-year quarterbacks getting ready to start for their respective teams, including Nico Iamaleava at Tennessee and Avery Johnson at Kansas State.

In a recent analysis by CBS Sports’ Clint Brewster, Arnold’s potential for the 2024 season was highlighted. Despite some growing pains and freshman mistakes in the bowl game against Arizona, Arnold showed great footwork, escapability, and arm strength. His performance ultimately led to the starting quarterback Dillon Gabriel transferring to Oregon. With talented receivers like Deion Burks, Andrel Anthony, and Nic Anderson, Arnold has a strong supporting cast.

Arnold’s mobility, arm strength, and accuracy make him a promising quarterback for the Sooners. With a roster full of talent, Oklahoma is optimistic about their chances in 2024. As they build momentum leading up to their first SEC game against Tennessee, Arnold and the team are working towards a successful season start. A fast start could set the tone for a successful season in the competitive SEC.
