The Florida football program is facing a tough schedule in the coming fall, with some predicting a .500 finish while others are less optimistic. CBS Sports writer Will Backus predicts the Gators will win just four of their 12 scheduled regular-season games, pointing out the challenges ahead for head coach Billy Napier and his team.

Backus notes that while Florida could improve from last year, the difficult schedule may result in a worse record. Early games against Miami and Texas A&M are seen as winnable, but the Gators will face tough competition from both teams. Backus believes that Napier will have to work hard to navigate the schedule and potentially earn another year as head coach.

Predictions for wins and losses see the Gators prevailing against Samford, UCF, and Kentucky at home, and winning one on the road against Mississippi State. However, losses are expected at home to Miami, Texas A&M, LSU, and Ole Miss, as well as away games against Tennessee, Texas, and Florida State, with a neutral ground loss to Georgia.

Backus ultimately picked the under for the Gators at 4.5 wins, highlighting the challenges that lie ahead for the team. The season opener against Miami is scheduled for August 31 in Gainesville, Florida and will be broadcast on ABC Sports.
