Celtics assistant GM compares Baylor Scheierman to NBA player

The Boston Celtics made their first-round pick in the 2024 NBA Draft and chose Baylor Scheierman from Creighton University. Scheierman is a versatile player who put up impressive stats in his college career, including averaging 18.5 points, nine rebounds, and 3.9 assists per game. He also shot 38.1 percent from 3-point range and 87.6 percent from the free-throw line.

When discussing Scheierman’s NBA player comparison, Celtics assistant general manager Austin Ainge mentioned Luke Kennard as a similar player. Kennard, who was drafted 12th overall in 2017, has been known for his shooting ability, particularly from beyond the arc. If Scheierman can develop a similar 3-point shooting prowess and defensive skills, he could become a valuable contributor to the Celtics.

Ainge also pointed out that Scheierman improved each year in college, which is a positive sign for his development. The Celtics are hopeful that Scheierman’s trajectory of improvement will continue in the NBA, making him a strong asset for the team in the future.

In addition to Scheierman, the Celtics also selected another player in the draft, Watson. Ainge discussed the team’s evaluation of both players and their potential impact on the roster. The Celtics are optimistic about their draft picks and are looking forward to seeing how they can contribute to the team’s success in the upcoming season.
