Argent LNG has chosen Chart Industries’ mid-scale modular liquefaction solution for its upcoming 20 million tpy LNG facility in Port Fourchon, Louisiana, US. This decision marks a departure from traditional large-scale LNG facilities. The IPSMR® (Integrated Pre-Cooled Single Mixed Refrigerant) process technology developed by Chart Industries is at the core of this innovative approach. IPSMR allows Argent LNG to customize its liquefaction systems to specific site conditions, optimizing gas turbine power with single cold box capacity for maximum efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
CEO of Argent LNG, Jonathan Bass, expressed excitement about the collaboration with Chart Industries, stating that the mid-scale modular model aligns perfectly with their vision for an agile and efficient LNG facility. The superior performance of IPSMR technology will enable them to optimize operations and provide a competitive solution to the market, expected to be operational in 2029/2030. This strategic partnership signifies a significant moment in the evolution of the LNG industry, showcasing a dedication to innovation and sustainability.
Chart Industries’ CEO and President, Jill Evanko, also expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, highlighting the benefits of IPSMR technology, brazed aluminum heat exchangers, cold boxes, and air coolers for Argent’s 20 million tpy LNG facility. Chart has already started engineering work for the project and expects to secure an IPSMR technology and equipment order in 2025.
Overall, this collaboration between Argent LNG and Chart Industries represents a shift towards modular and efficient LNG facilities, emphasizing sustainability and innovation in the industry’s evolution. The project is expected to offer customers a more cost-effective and efficient LNG solution.
