The Cherokee Nation is currently accepting applications for the WAVE Technology Training program, a mentor-led Salesforce career training initiative for citizens of federally recognized tribes. This program, now in its second year, had 385 Cherokee citizen applicants last year. Due to the success of the program in 2023, the Cherokee Nation and its partners have decided to expand the program to all federally recognized tribes in 2024. Applications can be submitted online through the Cherokee Nation Gadugi Portal until June 18th.

Cherokee Nation Chief Information Officer Paula Starr expressed the importance of boosting representation of indigenous populations in the field of technology. The WAVE program aims to illuminate pathways to learning, credentialing, and career mentorship for underrepresented communities. The program provides hands-on training over a period of 14 weeks, starting on July 15th, to prepare participants for a career in the Salesforce ecosystem, a cloud-based customer relationship management software.

Applicants must be citizens of the Cherokee Nation or another federally recognized tribe as of June 4, 2024, and hold a high school diploma or GED equivalent. Selection notifications will be sent via email by the end of the second week of June. Due to the competitive nature of the program, some applicants may be waitlisted. For more information on eligibility or how to apply, interested individuals can email wave-support@cherokee.org or call 918-453-5058.
