Architectural Digest recently released a ranking of the 17 best skylines in the world, praising cities from around the globe for the mix of architectural and natural beauty in their skylines. Chicago was recognized as the third-best skyline in the world, with its majestic skyscrapers along Lake Michigan standing out.
Although Chicago was highlighted, Architectural Digest acknowledged that other cities in the Midwest also possess similar characteristics on a smaller scale. Milwaukee, Wisconsin was ranked as the 15th-best skyline in the world, with its notable presence along Lake Michigan and the iconic Milwaukee Art Museum.
In addition to Chicago and Milwaukee, American cities Manhattan and Seattle also made it to the list, ranking first and fourteenth, respectively. The ranking criteria included questions about what makes a beautiful skyline – whether it is recognizable, harmonious, or has individually striking buildings, with Architectural Digest noting that it is a combination of all of these factors.
The full ranking of the 17 best skylines in the world includes cities like Hong Kong, Dubai, Tokyo, Perth, Sydney, Shanghai, Singapore, Bangkok, Tianjin, Panama City, Kuala Lumpur, Auckland, and Toronto. More information on the ranking can be found on the Architectural Digest website.
