Chief Data Science Officer Hired by New York Life

New York Life has announced the appointment of Alain Biem as the chief data science officer. Biem will lead the artificial intelligence team at the insurer in this newly created role, focusing on advancing AI and data science collaborations throughout the company.

With over 25 years of experience in data science, Biem has previously worked at S&P Global Market Intelligence as the chief data scientist. He has also held leadership positions at Wayfair, Operata Solutions, and IBM. In addition, Biem served as a postdoctoral researcher at Advanced Telecommunications Research in Japan.

Don Vu, the chief data and analytics officer who joined New York Life in October 2023, highlighted the importance of AI and predictive analytics capabilities in today’s fast-paced business environment. He expressed optimism about leveraging data to drive innovation, growth, and efficiencies while delivering exceptional experiences for clients and agents. Vu emphasized that Biem’s expertise will play a crucial role in leveraging AI to further the company’s organizational transformation and advance its position as an industry leader.
