The Chiefs had a rough offensive performance in their game against the Jaguars, with penalties and turnovers plaguing them. Despite this, they were able to make enough plays to secure a 17-9 victory. In the first half, Kansas City gave up three points but still held a 7-6 lead at halftime. They had a punt saved by Richie James, a fumble by Justin Watson, and an interception by Patrick Mahomes, but the Jaguars only managed to score three points off those turnovers. Skye Moore’s touchdown reception with 27 seconds left in the first half gave the Chiefs a 7-3 lead, but the Jaguars responded with a field goal to make it 7-6 at halftime.

After halftime, the Chiefs put together an impressive 81-yard touchdown drive, culminating in a 9-yard pass from Mahomes to Travis Kelce. The Jaguars managed to kick a 22-yard field goal to bring the score within nine points. They got close to the Chiefs’ 14-yard line, but a fourth-down pass from Trevor Lawrence to Calvin Ridley fell incomplete, securing the victory for Kansas City. The Chiefs were able to seal the game with a 54-yard pass from Mahomes to Moore, which pushed them into Jacksonville territory. With time running down, Isaiah Pacheco ran for 5 yards to the 1-yard line, and Mahomes took some knees to close out the game on his birthday.

Mahomes had a solid performance, completing 29 of his 41 passes for 305 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception. He connected with nine different receivers and had 30 rushing yards on seven attempts. Kelce, who had missed the previous game due to a knee injury, caught four passes for a 26-yard touchdown. Pacheco also contributed with 70 rushing yards on 12 carries. On the other side, Lawrence went 22-of-41 for 216 yards and added 26 rushing yards. Travis Etienne had a quiet game with just 40 yards on 12 carries.

Jacksonville struggled on third downs, converting only 3 out of 12 attempts. They also failed to convert on two fourth downs and went 0-for-3 in the red zone. The Chiefs were penalized 12 times for a total of 94 yards, with right tackle Jawan Taylor being called for multiple infractions. Kansas City, now 1-1, will face the Bears in Week 3, while the Jaguars, also 1-1, will take on the Texans in their next game.
