In August 2009, Bolt set a new record while competing at the World Championships in Berlin. Just a year before that, he had achieved a new world record of 9.69, only 2 months and 16 days after his first time at the top. His time of 9.72 in 2008 had been enough to make him the fastest man in the world, taking over from his fellow Jamaican runner Asafa Powell, whose time of 9.74 had held for 8 months and 22 days. In comparison, Coleman has a personal best of 9.76.
Despite Coleman’s belief that he can break the world record, he is cautious not to put too much focus on being the one to surpass Bolt. He acknowledges that achieving a new record is within his reach but prefers to concentrate on his training, practices, and upcoming meets. By focusing on continuous improvement and striving to get better, he believes that the faster times will naturally follow.
