Christian McCaffrey agrees to a 2-year contract extension worth $38 million with the 49ers

San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey has recently signed a two-year contract extension, which will see him earn an average of $19 million per season. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the extension includes a significant salary increase of $8 million and an additional $24 million in guaranteed money for the 2023 NFL Offensive Player of the Year. As a result, McCaffrey will become the highest-paid running back in the NFL.

Prior to signing the extension, McCaffrey was set to earn $11.8 million in the upcoming 2024 NFL season as part of his previous contract with the Carolina Panthers. The 27-year-old running back had an impressive season last year, rushing for 1,459 yards and 14 touchdowns, while also recording 564 receiving yards and seven touchdowns.
